Big Sur Goes Green with New Office
TAMPA, FL - On November 1, 2009 - Big
Sur Technologies moved into Florida's first green office
building. The Class A office building is located at 4631
Woodland Corporate Boulevard in Tampa.
LEED is the USGBC's
leading measurement rating system for designing and constructing
the world's greenest, most energy efficient, and high performing
buildings. LEED Gold CS certification of the 4631 Woodland
Boulevard building was based on a number of green design
and construction features that positively impact the project
itself and the broader community. These features include:
waterless urinals, low-flow shower heads and sensor faucets,
high energy-efficient HVAC equipment with special filters
and carbon dioxide monitors, a highly reflective TPO roof
membrane, as well as low VOC (volatile organic compounds)
emitting paints, carpet and adhesives.
"This building represents a new era in office space
options within the Tampa market," said Liberty's
LEED consultant Joanna Switzer, senior consultant at Green
Building Services. Liberty has demonstrated a commitment
to their tenants by offering a building with ample access
to views, daylight, and optimal air quality. Liberty has
also incorporated sustainable principles into their own
office suite within the building and provided educational
information to tenants regarding the importance of using
low-VOC products and energy efficient systems designs to
further contribute to the long-term health and performance
of the building."
In addition, The 4631 Woodland Boulevard building received
the "Office
Building of the Year" award from the Tampa Bay Chapter
of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties
(NAIOP) and the "Outstanding
Contribution to the Community" award in the 26th
Annual Community Design Awards from the Hillsborough City-County
Planning Commission in Tampa.
